Yes, Vitamix blenders are expensive. Yes, they are worth every penny. If you can afford the splurge they are completely worth it.

I have had my trusty Vitamix since 2009 and use it heavily (most often for smoothies) and it is still going strong without a single issue. I actually purchased a second one last summer (the new shiny version show above stuffed with smoothie ingredients) to have at our cabin.

It is so strong it blends basically everything! For our smoothies, I wash fresh lacinato kale, trim a tiny but off the bottom and then cut the rest into 1 - 2 inch ribbons and then throw them in like that, stalks and all, along with other things like spinach, frozen blueberries, strawberries and cherries, ground flax seed and raw cocoa powder and it blends it all into a drinkable concoction without hesitation.

In addition so smoothies you can make a myriad of other things from soups to dips to apple sauce to marinades and even your own flours, think almond, oat, etc. You can even make dairy free "ice cream" by blending frozen bananas with some frozen berries.

Available from many places, including Amazon with Prime shipping.
