By day, Haven's Kitchen is an adorable cafe offering tasty (and usually very healthy) in house made bites and sips to city goers in Chelsea, NY. Come evening, and they open up the back kitchen to the lucky few who signed up for that night's cooking class.

I have now taken 2 classes there and I can honestly tell you, they are super fun. You learn some tips, some new recipes, get hands on experience, sit down to enjoy the fruits of your labor and possibly make a new friend or two....all while sipping wine and basking in the knowledge of your instructors.

They have a super broad range of classes to pick from, which all sound amazing whether you are still learning knife confidence or a seasoned home cook looking to add to your knowledge and repertoire. I couldn't even do the variety justice by listing a few, so here's a screenshot of just a portion of their July offering... read and drool. I basically want to take them all. I wonder if they would let me move in. Check out their full, current offering here.

The last class I took was "Good Food That's Good For you" and even though I cook a lot and have for years, I came away with seriously amazing recipes I never would have thought of, or tried out of a cookbook, and was utterly inspired to make delicious food that was healthier than ever for myself and my loved ones. I still cannot get over how much I loved the class. Shout out to the awesome instructors, Mia (@the_rasa_life) and Ashton (@ashtonekeefe).

A couple years ago I took a Thanksgiving cooking class. Even though my husband and I had already hosted Thanksgiving for our family for years I thought it would be great to pick up some tips and hopefully finally conquer making good gravy. My husband's mother used to make the best gravy ever. She taught me but I never managed to get it right and that made me sad. I can happily report we now have perfect gravy every Thanksgiving. In fact, now that I really know how to do it, I even whip it together sometimes when I make a roast chicken or a beef roast. Yes, we can now enjoy a beef roast with Yorkshire Pudding and gravy which makes me unbelievably happy! If you have not tried Yorkshire Pudding with gravy you need to seek some out ASAP.

So, if you haven't gathered already, I highly recommend taking one or many classes at Haven's Kitchen. A gift certificate or ticket to a specific class would even make a unique and enriching gift for the foodie chef in your life.

Before I wrap this up, I should let you know that some classes are during the day on the weekends if weeknights are tough for you. Haven's Kitchen also hosts and caters private events! If you are looking for a unique setting with amazing food, reach out to them!
