Cakebread Cellars 2011 Benchland Select Cabernet Sauvignon

Cakebread Cellars 2011 Benchland Select Cabernet Sauvignon

If you have tried Cakebread wines you know they are wonderful, easy drinking wines. The winery has always been owned and operated by the same family and is one of the oldest wineries in Napa Valley. There is a nice spirit about their wines. We actually served one of their Chardonnay's at our wedding back in 2005.

But I am writing now to tell you that the Cakebread Cellars 2011 Benchland Select Cabernet Sauvignon is absolutely divine. Pricey at $115 a bottle but well worth it if you can splurge. This would make an excellent special occasion bottle, or even a Father's Day gift for any wine loving dad. It is robust and full flavored yet smooth. Delicious savored on its own but also a great accompaniment to a meal or steak or pasta.

The perfect summer wine

The weather is warm and everyone is coming out to celebrate. Whether you are hosting a cookout or attending someone else's summer soiree, this is the wine to get. Darioush's 2013 Signature Viognier is light, crisp and wonderfully refreshing. Perfect for a warm summer afternoon or evening. Rated 92 by Wine Enthusiast Magazine.

Darioush is one of our favorite Napa wineries. We were lucky enough to get to try this wine on our last trip to the Napa Valley. We snapped up a half a case of it and I'm glad we did as it is sold out at Darioush. In fact, we came home with a number of bottles of a number of varieties that day as every wine we tasted was amazing that day.

It appears to still be available through some online retailers and perhaps your local wine shop. Get a few bottles, you will not be disappointed.

Winery: Darioush, Napa, California

Rated 92 | Wine Enthusiast Magazine "This perfumey white dances in intense and creamy layers of stone fruit and vanilla, remaining vibrant and balanced from start to finish. The generous fruit is grown in the relatively cooler Oak Knoll section of the Napa Valley. This should develop further over time and in the glass. — V.B." (03/2015)
